Hooded attacker randomly slashes man outside Brooklyn Whole Foods

A 30-year-old man was slashed in the face outside a Brooklyn Whole Foods by a stranger in a grisly random attack, police said Friday.
Cops on Friday released images of the slasher, who was sporting a heavy, hooded bubble jacket during Tuesday’s attack, when temperatures in the city were around 60 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
Wearing his hood up and sporting dark sunglasses, the man approached his victim outside the Whole Foods on Ashland Place near Lafayette Ave. in Fort Greene at about 9:14 a.m., cops said.
“F— you!” the slasher screamed at his victim before flashing a blade and raking it across his victim’s face, leaving a deep slash wound.
EMS took the victim to Maimonides Medical Center, where he was expected to survive.
The slasher ran off. No arrests have been made.
The slashing comes as assaults in Brooklyn’s 88th Precinct, which protects Fort Greene, have skyrocketed by 33%, officials said.
As of Sunday, cops were investigating 194 assaults in the area, 49 more than the 145 reported in the precinct the same time last year, according to NYPD statistics.
Citywide, assaults are up 5%, from 23,285 last year to 24,498.
Cops on Friday released images of the slasher in the hopes someone recognizes him.
Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is urged to call NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
